Owning a recruitment franchise and the benefits of becoming a franchisee

March 31, 2025 | Lily-May Poulton

When it comes to running a business, one thing that you are going to want to make sure that you do/have is one that is successful. However, if you are setting up from scratch, this is not always something that is guaranteed and there are lots of things that can happen along the way.
An alternative approach that you can take, should you still want to take on the challenge of working for yourself, is to become a franchisee. But, what does this mean? What are the benefits and how does this work in the world of recruitment?

What is a franchise?

Compared to when you set up your own business, a franchise is when you buy the rights, the name, the products, or the business model of another company, all in order to use these things for yourself to make money.

More often than not, a franchisee will be required to pay money to the owner of the business, this may come in the form of a fee, which forms a purchase agreement, or it may be a more ongoing agreement, whereby they pay a proportion of what their earnings are.

What about recruitment?

The way that a franchise works for some industries may seem to be relatively easy to understand, particularly when you think of those that are fast food chains, as the brand, the logo and the food itself come as a part of the package that is bought. But, how does it apply to recruitment?

Well, just like these other forms of franchise, you are buying the name of the recruitment company, and the ability to use it for yourself. You are still going to need to put the effort in and make sure that you hit your own targets, but having this already set up name, brand and business model set up, is going to give you a really great boost to start with.

The perks of owning a recruitment franchise

One of the main reasons that it may be a good idea for you to take on a recruitment franchise, is because the industry as a whole is always moving and growing. People are always looking for jobs, and companies are always looking to hire the right people, which means that if you can have a part to play in this process, then you are going to find a surefire way to make some money along the way.

This has definitely been proven in recent times when there have been plenty of things in the UK economy that have taken a downturn. Recruitment is still something that is going strong and despite what may be happening in the wider world, this particular form of franchise is still managing to secure business.

Another great thing about choosing a recruitment franchise is that it is already there set up for you, ready and waiting to go. Of course, there is always going to be some element of work that is going to apply, but, for the most part, you are likely to find those early days a little easier to manage.

You also have a lower level of risk than you would if you were setting up yourself from scratch. You are going to put in a more minimal amount of money to the business bucket and if there are any blips along the way, you can support yourself better.

The only way to know whether or not a recruitment franchise is the right thing for you is to try it for yourself. Whether you find that it is the right future for you, or not, knowing that you have given it the best chance and given yourself the best start, is sometimes all you need to get yourself out there and ready to try it for yourself.
